About Us

The Greater Aberdeen Community Coalition (GACC) was founded in 2019 by founders Shelton R Tucker and Michael A. Harper. It's creation initially derived out of a need to address some of the concerns that were identified throughout the Greater Aberdeen District. Crime was the the most prevalent. As we delved deeper into the crime issue, we found an inordinate amount were committed by our youth. We then called for a community meeting. The meeting was attended by citizens from various neighborhood"s all around the district. During that meeting we formed a district wide Neighborhood Watch group. One that focused on all communities of District 10
At our first meeting we identified other areas of concern shared by us all. Care for our seniors, health/wellness, heritage of our community was some of the hot topics. We realized that we could be more effective if we joined with each neighborhood. We determined that we could learn then accomplish more by coming together to discuss methods, procedures and best practices. The founders agreed and GACC was formed.
In 2022, after over a year's effort, the Greater Aberdeen Community Coalition received the distinguished honor of being recognized, by the city of Hampton as a district wide Registered Neighborhood Organization or RNO. This designation allows GACC access to neighborhood grants, partnerships, administrative assistance with projects. To beautify and preserve our homes and build stronger communities.
